Marie Diron Managing Director, Sovereign Risk Moody's Ratings

Marie Diron heads the Sovereign Risk Group for Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, and Sub-Sovereign Risk Group for Asia Pacific and EMEA. She is responsible for analytical teams covering more than 70 sovereign ratings, 15 Multilateral Development Banks and around 400 sub-sovereign ratings in about 30 countries. Marie is also a project owner of Moody’s Investors Service’s ESG scores, which were launched in early 2021.

Marie has worked as Moody’s lead sovereign analyst for a number of Asia Pacific credits, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. Marie has also worked in Moody’s Credit Policy, leading a number of macroeconomic analyses, including our regular Global Macro Outlook and other credit research work. Marie was previously Director at Oxford Economics, leading the company’s forecasting and scenario analysis service to financial sector and corporate clients, after a number of years at the European Central Bank and Brevan Howard LLP. Marie received a MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge and graduated from the Ecole Centrale Paris. 

Sin Beng, Ong Managing Director, Head of EM Asia Economic Research J.P. Morgan

Sin Beng is the Head of EM Asia economics research and Chief Economist for ASEAN, covering both macro themes and country-specific developments in Indonesia and Singapore. He also worked as a rates and sovereign strategist for EM Asia. He is also a member of the top-ranked 2021 Global Economics team. He has a BA and MBA from Cornell University.

Steve Cochrane Chief APAC Economist Moody's Analytics

Steven G. Cochrane, PhD, is Chief APAC Economist with Moody’s Analytics. He leads the Asia economic analysis and forecasting activities of the Moody’s Analytics research team, as well as the continual expansion of the company’s international, national and subnational forecast models. In addition, Steve directs consulting projects for clients to help them understand the effect of regional economic developments on their business under baseline forecasts and alternative scenarios. Steve’s expertise lies in providing clear insights into an area’s or region’s strengths, weaknesses and comparative advantages, relative to macro or global economic trends. 

A highly-regarded speaker, Dr. Cochrane has provided economic insights at hundreds of engagements over the past 20 years and has been featured on CNBC, CNA, Bloomberg TV, Wall Street Radio, and the PBS News Hour. Through his research and presentations, Steve dissects how various components of the macro and regional economies shape patterns of growth. His extensive expertise on U.S. and global economic issues makes also him a popular speaker at client conferences and executive briefings.

Steve holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Penn Institute for Urban Research Scholar. He also holds a master's degree from the University of Colorado at Denver and a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Davis.

Christian de Guzman Senior Vice President, Sovereign Risk Moody's Ratings

Christian de Guzman is a Senior Vice President with Moody’s Sovereign and Sub-Sovereign Risk Group. Based in Singapore, he covers a portfolio of sovereigns and multilateral development banks in Asia Pacific, including Japan, India and a number of Southeast Asian credits, while also managing the team responsible for sub-sovereign ratings in Asia ex-China.

Christian joined Moody’s in 2009, after working as a Senior Economist for the Monetary Authority of Singapore, covering ASEAN economies. He has also held various positions with the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, and Procter & Gamble in Singapore.

Christian was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate in Economics and Political Science at the University of Georgia and received his M.A. in International Economics and Southeast Asian Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

Chin Yee, Png Chief Financial Officer Temasek International

Png Chin Yee joined Temasek in 2011. Her prior roles in Temasek include Head, Financial Services; Senior Managing Director, China; and Senior Managing Director, Portfolio Strategy and Risk Group.

Prior to joining Temasek, Chin Yee was Managing Director with UBS AG where she was the Joint Head of the Financial Institutions Group for Asia Investment Banking.

Raymond Chia Managing Director and Portfolio Manager BlackRock

Raymond Chia, Managing Director is a Portfolio Manager for the Fundamental Fixed Income Team focusing on Asia Credit.

Before joining BlackRock, Mr. Chia was the Head of Credit Research, Asia ex Japan for Schroders Investment Management where he was responsible for leading and managing the Asia Credit Research Team across Singapore and Greater China. In addition to his leadership of the credit research effort in Asia, he is responsible for credit coverage within the Asia sectors such as industrials, consumer and gaming across Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Schroders, Mr. Chia was Director and Portfolio Manager for PGIM (formerly Pramerica Fixed Income Asia Limited), the asset management arm of Prudential Financial, where he was responsible for portfolio management activities with a primary focus in Asia Fixed Income for the Singapore office and Emerging Market Team.

Previously, he held various credit roles in UOB Asset Management and Standard Chartered Bank focusing mainly on Asia High Yield. Mr. Chia holds a Masters in Business Economics from the University of Queensland as well as a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of London.

Vijay Jote Executive Director, Head of Ratings Advisory, Asia-Pacific BNP Paribas

Vijay Jote joined BNP Paribas in 2013 as the Head of Ratings Advisory for Asia Pacific.  He has over 25 years experience in Ratings Advisory and Credit across Asia-Pacific, US, Europe and Latin America

Vijay joined BNP Paribas from Citi Private Bank (CPB) in Hong Kong where he was the Fixed Income and Credit Strategist since 2010 supporting the fixed income investment platform in Asia Pacific for the Private and Consumer bank of Citi. He managed the new issuances and secondary market trading activity from Asian and non-Asian bond issuers in the fixed income markets.  He also provided macro credit opinions, trading recommendations and advised clients on setting up fixed income portfolios

Prior to Citi Private Bank, Vijay spent over 5 years with Citi providing Ratings Advisory and debt capital markets origination for clients in Asia-Pacific

Terry Fanous Managing Director, Project & Infrastructure Finance Moody's Investors Service

Terry has over 25 years of experience in credit ratings and bank credit risk management. As a Managing Director, based in Singapore, he leads Moody’s Public, Project & Infrastructure Finance in Asia Pacific. He assumed his position in February 2015.

In this role, Terry oversees ratings teams in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Australia, and Japan which are responsible for Moody’s extensive coverage across the public and infrastructure sectors, including transport infrastructure, regulated utilities,power and social infrastructure.

Prior to this role, Terry spent seven years as an Associate Managing Director and head of corporate, project and infrastructure finance ratings for Australasia, based in Sydney. During that period, Moody’s rating coverage for this region grew substantially to more than 100 rated issuers. In the corporate sector, the analytical team monitored ratings in a wide range of non-financial sectors, such as consumer and retail, industrial, mining, oil and gas, and property, while the infrastructure team covered power, transport, utilities and social infrastructure.

Terry was also previously responsible for Moody’s coverage of the oil and gas as well as mining sectors in Asia Pacific.

Before joining Moody’s in 2000, Terry worked for around 12 years in various risk management and credit origination roles at Westpac Institutional Bank in Sydney. His last position at Westpac was Senior Manager, Credit and Divisional Credit Officer, responsible for approving credit exposures to institutional clients.

Brian Cahill Managing Director, Global Head of ESG Moody’s Investors Service

Brian Cahill is Managing Director, Global Head of ESG for Moody’s Investors Service. In his role, Brian leads Moody’s strategy for the incorporation of Environmental, Social and Governance factors - including climate risk - into credit ratings, analytics, research and outreach. He has responsibility for ensuring that Moody’s is at the forefront of meeting this growing market need from investors, issuers and other important stakeholders. Brian has more than 24 years of credit experience at Moody's and has coordinated the MIS ESG initiative since 2014 building a strong platform for analytics, research and outreach in respect of ESG.

Brian has held various senior analytical and management positions with Moody’s. He joined the company in 1996, working first in Structured Finance and then Corporate Finance. He was regional head of the Asia Corporate Finance franchise from 2002 to 2020. In addition, he led the Asia project and infrastructure team from 2002 to 2018 and the Asia financial institutions team from 2009 to 2016. He was country manager for Australia from 2005 to 2009.Prior to joining Moody’s, 

Brian practiced as a lawyer in London, New York and Sydney. He received an MA and Master of Law from St. John’s College, Cambridge University.

Gary Lau is the Managing Director for the Corporate Finance Group in Hong Kong. Gary manages analytical teams in Hong Kong, covering corporate ratings in North Asia (ex-Japan). He has extensive experience with Moody’s in analytical and management positions with responsibilities across different industries and geographies. He has been with Moody’s since 1998.

Before joining Moody’s, Gary worked for Barclays Bank Plc and Bank of America in the Financial Institutions and Corporate Banking Divisions.

He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Social Science, both from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Clement Wong Associate Managing Director, Corporate Finance Group Moody's Investors Service

Clement Wong is an Associate Managing Director and team leader with Moody’s Investors Service’s Corporate Finance Group. Based in Hong Kong, he oversees a team of rating analysts covering Chinese industrial corporate entities in sectors including internet, technology, auto, chemicals, food and beverage and more. He and his team are also actively involved in Moody’s Greater China investor outreach activities and have been authoring sector- , issuer- and credit trend-specific research reports.

Clement is an auditor by training with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte. He has over 20 years of credit experience in the banking industry.

Prior to joining Moody’s in 2014, he was Country Credit Officer for Wholesale Banking in Hong Kong and Japan at Standard Chartered. Clement has also worked for several international banks, including Citibank, where he helped set up the commercial banking risk management team in China while stationed in Shanghai for almost five years. During his time at Citibank Shanghai, he also collaborated with other teams to build the bank’s framework for lending and approving credits; and before relocation to Shanghai, as Senior Credit Officer, worked on assessing large corporates’ credit exposure; and had been in charge of problem loan recovery for small-medium-sized companies.

Before joining Moody’s, Lina worked as a senior investment analyst for AllianceBernstein Holdings LP, a US asset management company. She covered Chinese equities in the telecoms, media and technology sectors. Lina has also worked as an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley’s Equity Research Division, overseeing the Asian telecommunications industry.

Kai Hu is a Senior Vice President in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group, based in Shanghai. He covers a portfolio of large Chinese state-owned enterprises.

Before joining Moody’s, Kai worked in credit risk management, trade finance and project finance at various financial institutions, including Citigroup and China Merchants Bank in New York and Bank of Communications, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank in Shanghai.

Ying Wang is a Vice President and Senior Analyst within Moody’s Corporate Finance Group. Based in Hong Kong, Ying covers a portfolio of consumer and internet companies across China.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Ying worked in Hong Kong as a Lead Equity Research Analyst at J.P. Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) Limited, BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered Bank, focusing on a wide range of sectors including oil & gas, utilities, environmental protection and renewable energy.

Ying started his career as a journalist at Bloomberg and China Daily News Group, covering the energy, commodities and industrial sectors. He has also worked for a major Chinese oilfield service company in Beijing.

Vikash Halan is an Associate Managing Director and team leader for Moody’s Corporate Finance Group, based in Singapore. In this role, Vikash manages a team of rating analysts, with a focus on key South and Southeast Asian sectors, including REITS, oil & gas, chemicals, property developers, gaming and IT services. Before joining Moody’s, Vikash worked for J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong, as a capital markets and ratings advisor for clients in the Asia Pacific region. Maisam Hasnain Vice President - Senior Analyst, Corporate Finance Group Moody's Ratings

Maisam Hasnain is a Vice President - Senior Analyst in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group. 

Based in Singapore, Maisam covers a portfolio of companies across the industrial, mining and plantation sectors in Southeast Asia. 

Prior to his move to Singapore in 2017, Maisam spent four years in Moody’s Hong Kong office covering a broad array of sectors, including telecommunications, communications infrastructure, building materials, and metals and mining. 

Maisam joined Moody’s in 2010 and started as an Associate in Moody’s Regional Product Strategy team, which is responsible for managing all aspects of Moody’s research and data service offerings, including new business initiatives.

Hui Ting Sim Assistant Vice President - Analyst, Corporate Finance Moody's Investors Service

Hui Ting Sim is an Assistant Vice President - Analyst with Moody’s Corporate Finance Group. Based in Singapore, she covers a portfolio of Southeast Asian oil and gas companies. 

Hui Ting joined Moody’s in 2017 as an Associate Analyst and previously covered a range of industries including metals & mining, as well as Singapore real estate investment trusts. 

Prior to joining Moody’s, Hui Ting worked in credit risk roles at Noble Resources International Pte Ltd and PetroChina International (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

Matthew Moore Senior Vice President - Manager, Corporate Finance Group Moody’s Investors Service

Matthew is a Senior Vice President in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group and has been based in Sydney since 2010. Matthew has covered many Australian corporate and infrastructure sectors during his time at Moody’s Sydney. His current responsibilities primarily include real estate investment trusts and large cyclical industrial companies, including those in the metals and mining, oil and gas and steel sectors. Matthew has also covered the consumer products and retail sectors with Moody’s in the US.

Matthew is also a member of Moody’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) working group for Asia-Pacific, which coordinates Moody’s regional activities in this area of growing market focus.

Prior to joining Moody’s Sydney office, Matthew worked in the rating-advisory group at Deutsche Bank in New York. He holds an Honours degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Jean Monson Director, Project Finance and ESG Finance, Asia Pacific MUFG Bank

Jean Monson joined MUFG in 2019 and is based in Singapore as a member of the Project Finance and ESG Finance teams, focusing on the origination and execution of project finance lending and advisory in the renewable and infrastructure sectors, and ESG Finance.

Jean is an experienced UK-qualified lawyer and investment banker having advised clients in the UK and the Asia Pacific regions over the last 14 years. She has executed financing transactions in the international debt capital markets (both loans and bonds) and numerous award-winning transactions in project finance and ESG.

At MUFG, Jean has originated and acted as advisor on market leading transactions in the renewable and infrastructure sectors and ESG Finance in India. Prior to MUFG, Jean was a debt originator in Barclays Capital’s Debt Capital Markets team in London and Singapore. Before moving into investment banking, Jean started her career in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (London) as a lawyer.

Jean is a thought leader in Renewables, Infrastructure and ESG. She is a regular speaker and contributor to international platforms, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA), Project Finance International (PFI), IPFA, and has curated podcasts at MUFG. Ray Tay Senior Vice President/Manager, Project and Infrastructure Finance Group Moody's Ratings

Ray Tay is a Senior Vice President and team leader for Moody’s Project and Infrastructure Finance team for South and South East Asia. In this role, based in Singapore, he oversees the ratings team responsible for Moody’s extensive coverage across the project finance and infrastructure sectors, including transport infrastructure, power & utilities, and credit enhanced issuances. 

Ray also authors research and speaks on topics such as project bonds and the role of funding diversity and credit enhancement in bridging the infrastructure gap, particularly in emerging markets. Ray is also a member of Moody’s Physical Climate Risks Working Groups.

Before joining Moody’s in 2012, Ray was a Director with the Global Infrastructure & Projects Group in KPMG. Ray has also worked as a Senior Business Analyst with the Singapore Power Group, focusing on regulatory economics in each of its principal local operating subsidiaries.

Ray holds a Bachelor’s in Economics with honors from the National University of Singapore.

Ivan Chung Associate Managing Director, Corporate Finance Moody's Investors Service

Ivan Chung is the Representative Director for Moody’s Investors Service (MIS) in Hong Kong. In this role, Ivan ensures a sound and controlled operating environment and acts as senior representative and main contact point for key local and regulatory issues, both internally and externally.

In addition to his Hong Kong role, Ivan is an Associate Managing Director within Moody’s Corporate Finance Group, where he co-heads the team responsible for Chinese local government financing vehicles ratings. 

Ivan first joined Moody’s in 1997 and rejoined in 2006. He has held senior analytical positions both in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group and Project and Infrastructure Finance Group, and most recently acted as the head of Greater China Credit Research and Analysis team, leading the research of evolving credit trends and bond markets in China.

Ivan holds a BBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and an MA from City University of Hong Kong. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Gene Fang Associate Managing Director, Sovereign Risk Moody's Investors Service

Gene Fang is an Associate Managing Director in the Sovereign and sub-sovereign Ratings Group in Asia. Based in Singapore, he manages the teams responsible for sovereign credit ratings in the Asia Pacific region and credit research on Chinese regional- and local governments. 

Before joining Moody’s, Gene worked as an investment banker, covering financial institutions for J.P. Morgan and Citigroup in Hong Kong and Singapore. In this role, he managed client relationships across Asia and advised on debt, equity, and M&A transactions. Gene graduated from Columbia University in political science. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Nicholas Zhu Vice President - Senior Credit Officer, Financial Institutions Moody's Ratings

Based in Beijing, Nicholas supports cross-border rating activities of Chinese banks. Previously, he was Moody’s key point of contact on the Chinese regional and local government sector.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Nicholas advised the Asian Development Bank on various China banking initiatives. He has extensive credit experience, having worked at HSBC, Standard Chartered and ANZ on a range of sectors and issues related to risk assessment for Basel II and other regulatory frameworks. Earlier in his career he was a senior economist with the World Bank.
