Simon Harris Managing Director - Global Head of Financial Institutions Moody's Investors Service

Simon Harris is Managing Director for Global Financial Institutions, based in London. He is responsible for Moody’s analytic teams maintaining Moody’s ratings on banks and finance companies, re/insurers and funds and asset management globally.

Simon joined Moody’s European Insurance team in 1998, working on analysis of UK and German life and non-life insurance groups, and prior to his current role held various managerial responsibilities, including EMEA Insurance, Nordic Banking and Global Insurance and Managed Investments.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Simon was an actuary with Co-operative Financial Services in Manchester, England. Simon holds a B.A. in Economics from Leeds University, and is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Actuaries (FIA).

Andrew Sheng Ex-Chairman HKSFC

Andrew Sheng is a former central banker and financial regulator in Asia and a commentator on global finance. He is Pro-Chancellor of Bristol University and Distinguished Fellow, Asia Global Institute, University of Hong Kong, as well as Chairman, George Town Institute of Open and Advanced Studies, Wawasan Open University, Malaysia.

Andrew is the Chief Adviser to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, a member of the international advisory council of the China Investment Corporation, the China Development Bank, and China Securities Regulatory Commission.

 Andrew served as Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong from 1998 to 2005, having previously been a central banker with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Bank Negara Malaysia. He also worked with the World Bank from 1989 to 1993. From 2003 to 2005, he chaired the Technical Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). He was a Board Member of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the sovereign wealth fund of Malaysia.

He has a First Class Honours in Economics from Bristol University, and Honorary Doctorates from University of Bristol and University of Malaya. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, Beijing and Faculty of Economics, University of Malaya.

He is author of “From Asian to Global Financial Crisis: An Asian Regulator’s View of Unfettered Finance in the 1990s and 2000s” (2009), and co-editor (with Ng Chow Soon) of the book, “Bringing Shadow Banking into the Light: Opportunity for Financial Reform in China” (2015). He writes regularly on international finance and monetary economics, financial regulation and global governance for Project Syndicate, AsiaNewsNet and leading economic magazines and newspapers in China and Asia. In April 2013, Andrew was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He also appeared in the Oscar-winning film “Inside Job” in 2011.

Stephen Long Managing Director – Regional Head of EMEA Moody's Ratings

Stephen Long is a Managing Director and regional head of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Moody’s Investors Service. He also serves as MIS’s country manager for the United Kingdom. He is responsible for core business strategy, governance and oversight in the EMEA region. He is also responsible for policy and regulatory outreach and for overseeing and growing Moody’s investments in domestic credit rating agencies in EMEA. Before becoming regional head of EMEA, Stephen was co-responsible for Moody’s global bank ratings and was based in Hong Kong where he primarily focused on bank ratings in the Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Moody’s, Stephen worked at J.P. Morgan in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong in a variety of senior credit, research and rating advisory roles. He worked at Standard & Poor’s from 1990 to 1996 in London and Paris as a bank analyst. He began his career as a banking regulator at the Bank of England. Stephen is a graduate of the University of Oxford, where he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

Graeme Knowd Managing Director, Financial Institutions Moody's Investors Service

Graeme Knowd is a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group based in Singapore. He manages a team of analysts in Japan and Singapore.The team has responsibility for rating financial institutions, including banks, securities firms and other non-bank financial institutions in North Asia (ex-Greater China) , South and South East Asia. Graeme has analyzed financial institutions globally for more than 20 years.

Before joining Moody’s, Graeme worked as a sell-side equity analyst at CLSA and Morgan Stanley. Prior to that, Graeme worked for The Bank for International Settlements, where he was involved in risk management and regularly conducted training for central banks throughout the world, particularly in Latin America. He has also worked for other leading financial institutions, such as UBS and S&P, and began his career at the Bank of England. He has worked in London, Switzerland, Tokyo and Singapore.

Graeme has Master’s degrees from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and Kobe University, where he studied Economics.
