Simon Ainsworth, who is based in London, is an Associate Managing Director responsible for the analytical teams maintaining ratings on Nordic and Baltic banks and on a range of European insurance companies.
Simon previously served as a Group Credit Officer. In that role he carried responsibility for monitoring ratings quality as well as assisting in the development and implementation of rating methodologies and practices applied to rated financial institutions within the EMEA region.
Simon joined Moody’s in March 2014 following sixteen years at the Bank of England.
At the Bank, he worked in a variety of roles primarily in its financial markets and banking operation divisions; as well as working on a variety of financial risk and crisis related issues. This included the resolution of failed banks, as well as responsibility for the risk management framework applied to collateral accepted in the Bank’s sterling market operations.Simon graduated from the University of Durham in 1998, having studied Economics and Politics. Brian Snow is a Vice President – Senior Analyst at Moody’s in London. He is a lead analyst covering various issuers of CMBS across all European jurisdictions and property types. Furthermore, he is responsible for performing surveillance on a portfolio of CMBS transactions with exposure to a wide spectrum of borrowers, countries, and property types. He is also involved in the implementation of various ESG initiatives that are essential to our credit analysis. Brian regularly speaks on industry panels and participates in industry groups such as CREFC Europe and the Investment Property Forum (IPF).
Prior to joining Moody’s EMEA CMBS team in 2021, Brian was a credit ratings analyst with a combined 15 years of experience at Moody’s (New York), DBRS/Morningstar, and Standard & Poor’s. He previously had stints in banking at GE Capital, Bank of Nova Scotia and ABN Amro.
Prior to working in finance, Brian was a civil/environmental engineer working on the design, planning and permitting of new land developments and conducting technical due diligence on commercial property in North America.
Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in finance from New York University Stern School of Business. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
Douglas Segars is responsible for Moody’s EMEA Infrastructure Finance ratings and research business. He leads a team of analysts in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Madrid covering utilities, infrastructure corporates and project financings.
Moody’s has a leading global Infrastructure Finance franchise, rating some US$2.8trillion of corporate and project finance securities. Our team of 148 analytical staff covers more than 2,700 public and private sector infrastructure issuers globally. Moody’s EMEA team of 48 infrastructure specialists is responsible for rating around 330 issuers with approximately US$756 billion in debt outstanding. Moody’s Investors Service covers a total of more than 35,000 issuers and structured finance transactions worldwide, representing more than US$73 trillion in rated debt. Before joining Moody’s in 2014, Douglas spent his 30-year career in Europe and the Americas in a variety of credit and origination roles with a focus on infrastructure, financial institutions and public finance. From 2010 to 2014, he served as Head of Infrastructure Finance at Her Majesty’s Treasury, advising government ministers on initiatives to support infrastructure in the United Kingdom including the UK Guarantees Scheme, a £40 billion programme to provide financial guarantees for social and economic infrastructure projects, and the Green Investment Bank, the first national financial institution created to mobilise private sector capital for sustainable infrastructure development. Prior to HM Treasury, Douglas was a Managing Director at Financial Security Assurance, holding a number of positions in the firm’s New York, Paris and London offices and leading teams structuring and guaranteeing financings for public-private partnerships, utilities and local authorities. Douglas began his career with American Express and Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. Douglas holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Georgia and a MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is a CFA charter holder
Helena is the lead analyst for various primary insurance and reinsurance groups based in the UK.
Prior to joining Moody’s in 2011, she worked as an auditor within the insurance department of Mazars.
Helena holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and philosophy from King’s College London, is a chartered accountant and ICAEW Fellow.
Angela Brown joined Moody’s in October of 2019 and serves as the Head of Product for Moody’s newly formed ESG Solutions Group. Angela is a seasoned veteran of product management and strategy in the financial services industry working across a broad range of solutions including data, analytics, research and platform tools. In her new role she is responsible for bringing together capabilities from across the company to deliver a comprehensive and integrated suite of ESG and Sustainable Finance solutions.
Brandan is a Vice President – Senior Credit Officer in the EMEA Insurance Team, with analytical responsibility for a range of (re)insurance ratings across the EMEA region.
Brandan joined Moody’s New York office in 2010, as an analyst responsible for a diverse portfolio of US insurance and reinsurance companies. Prior to joining Moody’s, he was Assured Guaranty Ltd., responsible for accounting policy and transaction advisory services. Brandan started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Africa, later transferring to the New York office where he was a manager in the Assurance practice, primarily responsible for the audits of life insurance companies. Brandan holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Pretoria and a MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a Certified Public Accountant (NY).
Joss Matthewman recently rejoined RMS as Senior Director of Climate Change Product Management & Strategy. Prior to this Joss was Head of Catastrophe Exposure Management at Hiscox, responsible for natural catastrophe, war, terror and political violence exposure management and reporting across the group.
Before joining Hiscox, Joss spent seven years in model development at RMS where he worked on the North Atlantic Hurricane and Asia Typhoon models, before being appointed Head of Storm Surge Modelling. During this period Joss joined the PRA working group on climate change which he continues to engage with today.
Prior to entering the insurance industry Joss obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from UCL and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in climate science at the University of California, Irvine. His published areas of research during this time include stratospheric sudden warmings and the impact of sea-ice on global atmospheric teleconnections.
Antonello Aquino is Associate Managing Director for EMEA Insurance and for Africa Banking. He is responsible for Moody’s analytic team maintaining Moody’s ratings on EMEA insurers and African banks. Antonello joined Moody’s in 2008 as a senior insurance analyst covering some of the major European (re)insurers.
Prior to Moody’s, Antonello was responsible for the FIG rating advisory practise at Credit Suisse in Europe. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Antonello was a senior analyst at S&P insurance and worked in the FIG M&A team of DrKW and ABN AMRO.
Antonello holds an MBA from HEC and is alumnus of London Business School. He graduated in business administration cum laude from Bocconi University in Italy. Antonello is fluent in English, Italian and French.
Aaron Aanenson serves as Cyber Insurance Thought Leader at BitSight, bringing over 19 years of IT and cybersecurity experience. In this role, he helps underwriting teams and their brokers produce better outcomes for their clients. Aaron provides thought leadership and recommendations regarding the role of underwriters, cyber insurers, and those seeking cyber insurance. He has been working with cyber insurance teams globally since 2017 to develop underwriting strategies, translate underwriting data into actionable outcomes, and develop business strategies for chief underwriting officers.
Prior to his role at BitSight, Aaron helped multinational companies identify, understand, and manage their cyber risks while working at Booz Allen Hamilton, Sungard Availability Services, and S-RM. His interest in technology started at a young age, leading him to learn C++ and earn his amateur radio license before starting high school. Aaron graduated college with an honors degree in Information Assurance from Pace University, designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the NSA, CISA, DoD, and the FBI.
Justyna Pikinska is the Head of Analytics at Gallagher Re and leads a team of dedicated actuaries, to help drive growth across different classes and support the entry of new reinsurance carriers to the market. She joined the original Capsicum Re business in 2016 to build a best-in-class proposition for analytics services offering practical, bespoke and value-add solutions. Since then Justyna has developed a variety of bespoke internal models and her team is responsible for pricing all the (re)insurance placements, while providing key actuarial insight into those placements such as optimising reinsurance, assessing tail risks and peer review of reserves. Justyna is also responsible for managing relationships with actuarial teams at international insurers to develop pricing tools, rating methodologies and underwriting guidelines, providing them with the technical capability to underwrite various risks, as well as relationships with external modelling firms, to assist them in the development of accumulation models and the creation of different realistic disaster scenarios (RDS). Prior to joining Gallagher’s reinsurance business, Justyna spent seven years at Axis Insurance to hone her actuarial and analytical skills and expertise, working across risk management and capital modelling, reserving and pricing.
Stephen Boyer is a technology entrepreneur and executive, currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at BitSight. Stephen ensures an aligned vision between industry challenges and platform offerings, enabling organizations to create trust in the digital economy. He is a frequent speaker for security, risk, and insurance topics. He co-founded BitSight in 2011.
