Colin Ellis Managing Director, Global Credit Strategist Moody's Ratings

Colin Ellis is Moody’s first Global Credit Strategist, and a Managing Director in the Credit Strategy team. 

In his current role, Colin provides thought leadership for the rating agency that deepens the understanding of ratings and debt capital markets through rigorous and quantitative research. He leads Moody’s teams working on default and ratings analytics and on global financial analysis, including bank projections and stress testing. Colin is also a member of Moody’s Macroeconomic Board, which sets the global forecasts that underpin Moody’s universe of ratings.

Colin joined Moody’s in February 2012, initially leading the work of the Macroeconomic Board and authoring the quarterly Global Macro Outlook. He subsequently worked in the Financial Institutions Group, developing quantitative forward-looking analyses. For 8 years he was the Chief Credit Officer for EMEA, leading analysis and coordination of credit and ratings across all rating franchises in the region. He was also the ‘Head of UK’ for MIS, responsible for the running of Moody’s UK operations, from 2019-2022 including the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Prior to joining Moody’s, Colin held roles at the Bank of England, Daiwa Capital Markets, the BVCA and at Birmingham University. He has published papers on a range of topics including corporate investment and pricing, credit risk, private equity, data uncertainty, stress testing, financial contagion and monetary policy. Colin holds degrees from York University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Middlesex University. He is a Visiting Professor at Hult International Business School and LSBU, and is also a Fellow of the RSA.

Edoardo Calandro Vice President – Senior Credit Officer, European Banks Moody's Investors Service

Edoardo Calandro is a member of Moody’s EMEA Banking Team based in London, with lead responsibilities for a portfolio of banks headquartered in the UK.

Since joining Moody’s in 2008, Edoardo worked on banks’ ratings and research; prior to his current focus on UK banks, he held lead responsibilities for Italian and Turkish bank ratings.

Edoardo holds a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s degree in finance and accounting from Bocconi University in Milan.

Evan Wohlmann Vice President - Senior Credit Officer, Sovereign Risk Moody's Investors Service

Evan is responsible for a portfolio of credits in Europe and the CIS that includes the United Kingdom, Russia and Ukraine; he has previously worked on European countries including Portugal, Hungary, Iceland and Israel. Evan joined Moody’s in 2015 after a varied career in the UK public and private sector.

Prior to starting at Moody’s, he spent five and half years working as an economist at the Bank of England, where his last role was an economic adviser in the External Monetary Policy Committee unit. He also worked as a financial economist in the Monetary Analysis division as well as in the bank resolution area working with other UK authorities to monitor and resolve financial institutions as part of the UK’s Resolution Regime. Before joining the Bank of England, he worked in corporate finance at KPMG focusing on debt advisory and mergers and acquisitions.

He holds an MSc in Finance from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain as well as an MComm in Economics from the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

Jennifer Wong Vice President – Senior Credit Officer Moody's Investors Service

Jennifer Wong is a VP-Senior Credit Officer in Moody’s Sub-Sovereign Group. Shei s responsible for research and analysis of issuers of various regional and local governments and government related issuers in the UK and China.

Jennifer has previously been the lead analyst on a number of sub-sovereign entities in Europe and Canada, including regional and local governments and government related issuers such as universities, transits and housing associations.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Jennifer worked as an Economic Adviser at Her Majesty’s Treasury in London, focusing on macroeconomic and fiscal policy issues. Jennifer holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada and a MSc in Global Market Economics from the London School of Economics. She is a CFA Charter holder.

Tony Parry Senior Vice President - Structured Finance Moody's Investors Service

Anthony Parry, Senior Vice President / Manager, leads a team of structured finance

credit analysts located across various European offices in the assignment of new

ratings to EMEA ABS and RMBS transactions. Anthony has published and spoken

extensively on Moody’s behalf since joining the company over ten years ago. Prior

to his current role, Anthony spent over seven years as a senior analyst in the

Moody’s EMEA RMBS team and a period dedicated to methodology development

for all asset classes within structured finance.

Prior to joining Moody’s, he spent several years in risk and modelling roles in the

life and general insurance industry. Anthony holds an undergraduate degree in

Mathematics from The University of Manchester and is a part-qualified Actuary.

Luca Bertalot Secretary General European Mortgage Federation

Luca Bertalot is Secretary General of the European Mortgage Federation - European  Covered Bond Council (EMF-ECBC), representing the interests of EU mortgage lenders and the covered bond community in discussions with the European Institutions and stakeholders in general on all issues relating to the retail and funding sides of the mortgage business. Established in 1967, the EMF is the voice of the European mortgage industry, providing data and information on European mortgage markets, which were worth over €7.6 trillion at the end of 2019 (EU27 + UK). In 2004 the EMF founded the ECBC, a platform that brings together covered bond market participants including issuers, analysts, investment bankers, rating agencies and a wide range of interested stakeholders. ECBC members represent over 95% of covered bonds outstanding, which were worth over €2.7 trillion at the end of 2019.

In his capacity as EMF-ECBC Secretary General, Luca is also Consortium Coordinator for the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative (EEMI). In addition, Luca is a member of the European Commission’s Sustainable Energy Investment (SEI) Forum’s Advisory Group and the Advisory Board of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice’s Economics Department.

Luca joined the EMF-ECBC in 2006, becoming Head of the ECBC in 2007 and was appointed Secretary General in 2014. Prior to this, he worked as a financial analyst in Italy and Australia. Luca holds a degree in Economics and Financial Markets from the University of Rome, Tor Vergata. Camile Boileau Senior Vice President Kensington Mortgages

Camille joined Kensington in 2013 and works in Capital Markets; She focuses primarily on managing the securitisation programs, the new origination warehouse and the derivatives for the Group. She has been involved in the structuring of both the first Social and Green bond from a UK ABS issuer.

Lee focuses on research within the operational or ‘beds’ capital markets sector.  In this role Lee works closely with our key clients to create bespoke research pieces, whilst also supporting our National Capital Markets team.  Lee has over 17 years’ experience in residential and alternatives property markets, in a career that spans residential agency, management, through to research, and has worked with some of real estate’s leading market operators.

Arjan Verbeek CEO and Co-Founder Perenna

Arjan Verbeek has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial markets in a variety of positions including at Moody’s, Barclays Capital and BNP Paribas. Arjan has extensive knowledge of the securitisation and covered bond markets in many of countries. He was a member of the FSA standing group which established the UK covered bond legislation in 2003 and the establishment of the mortgage ACS framework in Ireland. Most recently Arjan founded and is CEO of Perenna, which has obtained its “authorisation with restrictions” to become the first UK covered bond bank.
