Moody’s held a webinar on Nigeria, following the recent rating actions on the sovereign, the banks and the corporates.
Moody’s senior analysts shared their views on:
- The future credit evolution of Nigeria, with the risk that the ongoing fiscal and external deterioration accelerates, despite high international crude oil prices
- The outlook for the banking system, amid foreign currency rationing, potential devaluation in the foreign exchange rate, interlinkages between the sovereign and the banks, as well as weakening government support capacity
- The outlook for the corporate sector, with exposure to Nigeria’s environment and currency convertibility risk, while business profiles remain strong and liquidity adequate

Lucie is the lead analyst for several Sub-Saharan African sovereigns and supranational issuers and is a senior member of Moody’s Africa Sovereign Ratings team. Prior to January 2015, she covered a variety of advanced and emerging market European sovereign credits, having joined the Sovereign Risk Group in early 2011 from Moody’s Sub-Sovereign Group.
Prior to joining Moody’s in 2007, Lucie spent two years at the French Ministry of Finance in the Forecast division, responsible for projections and analyses of France’s government finances.
Lucie holds a postgraduate degree in Probability and Statistics from a French Engineering School (ENSAI) and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Paris.
Sean Marion heads up Moody’s EMEA Structured Finance Group, based in London. He is responsible for overseeing both primary issuance and surveillance functions for Consumer Assets, Corporate Assets and Covered Bonds, with teams based in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid and Milan.
Prior to joining the Structured Finance Group he was a London-based Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group, responsible for ratings coverage in the Nordics, Baltics, South-Eastern Europe and emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa.
Before relocating to London in 2011, Mr. Marion held various positions of progressive responsibility in Moody’s, including working in the firm’s offices in Mexico City and Toronto. Before joining Moody’s, Mr. Marion worked for The Economist Intelligence Unit, conducting research on macroeconomic and country risk. Mr. Marion holds graduate degrees in economics from the Université Paris I (Sorbonne) and the London School of Economics. He also holds an undergraduate degree from Bishop’s University, Canada. Mr. Marion is fluent in French and Spanish.
Mik Kabeya is a Vice President - Senior Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group, based in London. Mik primarily covers financial institutions based across the African continent. Prior to relocating to London in 2021,
Mik was based in Dubai where he covered financial institutions based in the Middle East. Before joining Moody’s, Mik worked in capital markets at BNP Paribas and in credit risk at Fullerton Financial Holdings. Mik graduated from ICHEC BrusselsManagement School. He is fluent in English, French and Dutch.
Iker is an Analyst in the Moody’s EMEA Corporate Finance Group based in Dubai. He covers a diversified industry portfolio, with exposure in Turkey, Africa, and the Middle East.
He joined Moody’s Dubai office in 2022, and previously worked as an associate analyst in the Moody’s London office covering the leveraged finance industry with exposure to Business and Consumer Services, Healthcare, Airlines and Aerospace & Defense. Before that, he spent 2 years working in the consulting industry in Spain.
Iker holds a Masters Degree in Investment Management from Henley Business School. He also holds a BSc in Business Management from the University of Deusto and is a CFA charterholder since 2018.
