China’s economic outlook has strengthened following the abrupt end to the zero-COVID policy. Pent-up consumer demand and new government stimulus will drive the improvement.

But challenges remain. The domestic recovery will mask systemic concerns with its struggling property market and less favourable demographic trends. On the exports front, China’s prospects are clouded by a global economy travelling dangerously close to recession.
