Wendy Cheong Managing Director – Regional Head of Asia Pacific Moody's Investors Service

Wendy Cheong is a senior management and strategy professional with over 22 years of experience in leading and transforming international business operations.

She is currently Managing Director-Regional Head of Asia Pacific for Moody’s Investors Service (MIS), based in Hong Kong. In this role, Wendy develops and leads Moody’s growth strategy in both developed and emerging markets in the region. Wendy is the senior representative for Moody’s in Asia Pacific and is responsible for managing regional operations, overseeing policy and regulatory outreach, coordinating Moody’s global initiatives, and providing oversight of affiliates, joint ventures and MIS domestic market strategies in the region.

Wendy joined Moody's in 2010 as an Assistant Director at Content Strategy in Moody’s Analytics, and has since held senior positions in strategy and management roles across business lines in Hong Kong and New York to build strategic vision, drive business growth and enhance market impact. She has served as Chief of Staff to the President of Moody’s Investors Service; Representative Director for MIS in Hong Kong, while also serving as Senior Vice President – Head of APAC Strategy & Business Management; and Director and Senior Product Strategist at Moody’s Analytics. Wendy sits as a Director on the boards of a majority of Moody’s Asia entities and affiliates in the region.

Wendy is a member of Moody’s Global Diversity Council and founded the Moody’s Women’s Employee Resource Group in Asia Pacific. She held leadership roles in several external women in finance organizations, including 100 Women in Finance and the Women in Finance Association of the Asia Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA). She is currently a member of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), a leading network of over 600 organizations across 34 countries that mobilizes capital for impact investing.

Before joining Moody’s, Wendy held senior strategy, sales and marketing positions at Prudential PLC, as well as at Singapore Telecoms in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Clement Wong Associate Managing Director, Corporate Finance Moody's Investors Service

Clement Wong is a Associate Managing Director and Team Leader in the Corporate Finance Group. Based in Hong Kong, he covers Chinese corporate entities in various industries except the property sector.Clement has over 20 years of credit experience in the banking industry. 

Prior to joining Moody’s, he was with Standard Chartered in Hong Kong where he was the Country Credit Officer for Wholesale Banking in Hong Kong and Japan.Clement has also worked for various international banks, including Citibank where he helped set up the commercial banking risk management team in China.

Clement holds a Master’s degree in International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Social Science degree from The University of Hong Kong. He is also a CFA charter holder and a CPA

Ning Loh Associate Managing Director, Project & Infrastructure Finance Moody's Investors Service

Ning Loh is the Associate Managing Director and Head of the Project & Infrastructure Finance team for North Asia (excluding Japan). In this role, based in Hong Kong, he oversees the ratings team in Hong Kong and China which is responsible for Moody’s extensive coverage across the project and infrastructure sectors, including transport infrastructure, utilities, power and social infrastructure. Ning has extensive experience within Moody’s, having worked since 2005 across a range of markets in Europe, Asia and the US. 

Prior to his present appointment, he headed our US Corporate Asset Backed Securities team in New York which assigns new ratings on US structured finance transactions backed by corporate and esoteric assets. Before that, he was based in Hong Kong, where he led Moody’s new ratings team responsible for Moody’s ratings coverage across asset classes such as commercial mortgage backed transactions, covered bonds and consumer asset backed securities in India and Southeast Asia. 

Before relocating to Hong Kong, he spent over 10 years in Moody’s London office, covering structured finance transactions in EMEA both as a credit analyst and subsequently as manager of the EMEA Asset Backed Securities new ratings team. During his tenure in Moody’s London, Ning specifically focused on complex and emerging market originated securitizations in Russia, central and eastern Europe and the Middle East, as well as whole business related financings covering areas such as UK regulated water utilities, transport infrastructure and airport landing slots.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Ning worked as an English-qualified lawyer at Slaughter and May and subsequently at Shearman & Sterling LLP in London, where he focused on complex structured financings and debt capital market transactions.

Ning holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London and is admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

Chen Huang Associate Managing Director, Financial Institutions Moody's Investors Service

Chen Huang is an Associate Managing Director within Moody’s Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong, she manages teams of analysts covering the ratings and research of Asian insurers and Chinese banks. Chen joined Moody's in December 2020 as a Senior Vice President from Autonomous Research/Sanford C. Bernstein, where she primarily covered Chinese banks as a partner before moving to her most recent position as a consultant in China macrofinancial research. Previously, she worked at CLSA (now CITIC CLSA) as a senior analyst covering Chinese banks and non-bank financial institutions. Earlier in her career, she worked as a senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and had a brief stint at Caijing Magazine (now Caixin).Chen received her Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University in the U.S and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in China.

Jerome Cheng has worked at Moody’s for more than 20 years. Based in Hong Kong, Jerome is an Associate Managing Director in the Structured Finance Group.

Jerome is responsible for covered bonds and structured finance transactions in Asia(ex-Japan). His analysis of structured finance deals includes CDOs, CMBS, RMBS, consumer loans and equipment leases. He has worked on a number of first-time landmark securitization transactions across Asia. 

Jerome holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Hong Kong, and Bachelor of Law degree from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Lina Choi is a Senior Vice President with the Corporate Finance Group for Moody’s Investors Service HK Ltd. She covers a portfolio of Chinese corporates in various sectors, including Internet, technology, food and beverage.

Before joining Moody’s, Lina worked as a senior investment analyst for AllianceBernstein Holdings LP, a US asset management company. She covered Chinese equities in the telecoms, media and technology sectors. Lina has also worked as an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley’s Equity Research Division, overseeing the Asian telecommunications industry.

Clara Lau is the Group Credit Officer, Corporate Finance, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. She is responsible for overseeing the quality and accuracy of corporate ratings in the region. She also coordinates the development of credit policies, rating methodologies and analytical initiatives, and ensures consistency in their application. Lau has extensive rating experience with a major focus on real estate companies, utilities and conglomerates. Jian Chang Managing Director, Chief China Economist Barclays Investment Bank

Jian Chang is a Managing Director and Barclays Head of China Economics Research. Based in Hong Kong, Jian is responsible for leading macroeconomic research on China and Hong Kong. She joined Barclays in 2009, and became Chief China Economist in 2013. 

Before Barclays, Jian worked at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), leading its coverage of the US, euro area and UK economies during 2005-07, and the Chinese economy and financial markets during 2008-09, as well as conducting thematic research on China and Hong Kong. 

Jian was a consultant at the World Bank in Washington DC during 2001-04. She has been a director at a number of professional groups, including the China Chief Economist Forum and the Chinese Financial Association of Hong Kong. Jian holds a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University in the US, and a BA in International Economics from Renmin University in Beijing.

Sophia Sinae Lee is an Associate Managing Director in Moody’s Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong, she oversees the ratings team that is responsible for financial institutions in Hong Kong, Korea, Mongolia and Taiwan, and non-bank financial institutions in China.

Sophia joined Moody’s in 2013 and prior to that spent seven years at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong as an equity analyst. She has also held positions in Korea at Bank of Korea and Korea First Bank.

Sophia holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a BA in Russian Language and Literature from Korea University. She is also a CFA charterholder.

Valerie Kwan Director, Engagement Asia Investor Group on Climate Change

Valerie is the director overseeing corporate and investor engagement initiatives, in particular, Climate Action 100+, an investor-led initiative to ensure the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change. She sits in the strategic projects working group together with the investor network representatives of other regions and runs the Asia Advisory Group. Valerie leads the Asia workstream from within Climate Action 100+, and with the team’s support coordinate investors’ engagement activities with Asian focus companies. Outside of CA100+, she is also involved in capacity building for investors in strengthening corporate engagement outcomes through considering various tools and approaches of engagement.

Prior to joining AIGCC, she was a manager in EY, Climate Change and Sustainability Services in Hong Kong and has advised clients on sustainability and risk management strategies. Valerie’s career in sustainability started in 2013 when she worked as an ESG advisor and conducted environmental and social due diligence for private equity clients. Prior to that she was a public affairs consultant in Hong Kong. Valerie holds a MSSc in Business and Community from the University of Bath.

John Wang Vice President - Senior Analyst, ESG Moody's Investors Service

John Wang is a Vice President and Senior Analyst for Moody’s ESG, based in Singapore.

In his role, John is involved in integrating ESG into Moody’s credit rating research and is the point person for Moody’s ESG outreach in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also responsible for publishing thematic and issuer-specific research on ESG risks relevant to credit analysis.

Prior to joining Moody’s, John was CEO of Visiondom ESG, an independent ESG consultancy in China, which helped institutional investors integrate ESG into their investment process. He also worked as an ESG specialist with Fidelity International’s Asia Stewardship and Sustainable Investing team, focusing on the Greater China and Oceania markets for five years. At Fidelity, he was closely involved in promoting ESG best practices in Asia and ESG integration, and had a special focus on corporate governance and carbon trading.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Singapore Management University and is a CFA Charterholder.

Ada Li is a Vice President - Senior Credit Officer with the Project & Infrastructure Finance Group, covering a portfolio of Chinese infrastructure companies across state-owned or privately-owned utilities, ports, railways, toll roads, and local government finance vehicles.

Before joining Moody’s, Ada worked as a Vice President at Deutsche Bank, where she oversaw Greater China corporates and financial institutions. Ada has also worked at Barclays Capital, where she covered Chinese financial institutions and commodity companies.

David Ho Sustainable Finance Analyst Moody's Investors Service

David is a Sustainable Finance Analyst to assess sustainability credentials across a range of sustainable finance transactions, including green, social, sustainable and sustainability-linked bonds and loans. Prior to joining MESG's Sustainable Finance team in APAC, David was an environmental manager overseeing all ESG issues at a corporate and project level for a Chinese company principally engaged in the energy and infrastructure-related businesses. He also has over 10 years of professional experience as a consultant to deliver a wide range of ESG advisory and environmental consultancy projects for multilateral development banks, government departments, private equity firms, listed and private companies, and NGOS.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Master of Science degree in Environmental Management from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a holder of European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) diploma.

Ivan Chung is the Representative Director for Moody’s Investors Service (MIS) in Hong Kong. In this role, Ivan ensures a sound and controlled operating environment and acts as senior representative and main contact point for key local and regulatory issues, both internally and externally.

In addition to his Hong Kong role, Ivan is an Associate Managing Director within Moody’s Corporate Finance Group, where he co-heads the team responsible for Chinese local government financing vehicles ratings. 

Ivan first joined Moody’s in 1997 and rejoined in 2006. He has held senior analytical positions both in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group and Project and Infrastructure Finance Group, and most recently acted as the head of Greater China Credit Research and Analysis team, leading the research of evolving credit trends and bond markets in China.

Before joining Moody’s, Ada worked as a Vice President at Deutsche Bank, where she oversaw Greater China corporates and financial institutions. Ada has also worked at Barclays Capital, where she covered Chinese financial institutions and commodity companies.

Ada holds a BBA in Accounting & Finance from The University of Hong Kong. She is also a CFA charterholder and a certified FRM holder.

David Ho Sustainable Finance Analyst Moody's Investors Service

David is a Sustainable Finance Analyst to assess sustainability credentials across a range of sustainable finance transactions, including green, social, sustainable and sustainability-linked bonds and loans. Prior to joining MESG's Sustainable Finance team in APAC, David was an environmental manager overseeing all ESG issues at a corporate and project level for a Chinese company principally engaged in the energy and infrastructure-related businesses. He also has over 10 years of professional experience as a consultant to deliver a wide range of ESG advisory and environmental consultancy projects for multilateral development banks, government departments, private equity firms, listed and private companies, and NGOS.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Master of Science degree in Environmental Management from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a holder of European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) diploma.
