Request for Feedback: Net zero assessments for non-financial corporates
Moody’s Investors Service (MIS) recently published a proposed framework to provide Net Zero Assessments of non-financial corporate entities. The assessments aim to provide an independent and comparable assessment of the strength of an entity’s carbon transition plan and are expressed on a five-point scale.

Swami Venkataraman, CFA, is an Associate Managing Director in Moody’s Environmental, Social and Governance group. He manages a team of analysts responsible for the development of ESG analytic tools, assessments and the integration of ESG considerations into Moody’s credit ratings and research. He is the primary spokesperson for Moody’s Investors Service on ESG and sustainable finance with regulators and investors. Before moving to the ESG team, Swami was a lead analyst in the North American utilities and infrastructure team, with rating committee chair responsibilities. Prior to Moody’s, he was a project and export finance banker with Standard Chartered bank in Asia.
Swami has broad credit and banking expertise in the power, clean energy and infrastructure sectors over the past 20 years. He has worked in New York, San Francisco, London, Mumbai and Mexico City. Swami is a CFA charter holder, with a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and an M.B.A. in finance from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM),Calcutta.
Frank Medrisch, CFA is Vice President - Senior Analyst within the ESG team, based out of London. He specializes in the credit implications of the energy transition for multiple sectors, climate change mitigation policy, and emerging decarbonisation technologies. Frank plays a key role in the development of Moody’s Carbon Transition Assessment (CTA) scores, a suite of analytical frameworks and tools designed to measure the carbon transition risk exposure for energy-intensive rated issuers. He also participates, presents, and moderates in Moody’s events and webinars, as well as external outreach meetings and working groups. Prior to his current role, he spent six years as a lead analyst within the Structured Finance Group, covering Latin American and European consumer securitizations from the Buenos Aires and the London office. Before joining Moody’s in 2015, Frank worked for five years in corporate finance credit ratings and equity/fixed income research in Argentina and Chile. He is a CFA charterholder and also holds a Master’s degree in Finance as well as a BA in Economics from UTDT in Buenos Aires
Daniel Marty is in charge of the development of fundamental methodologies, including for sovereigns, banks, asset managers and non-financial corporates. Prior to assuming that position, Daniel was a lead analyst in charge of a portfolio of regional and local governments as well as government-related issuers in France and Belgium. Daniel also worked in Moody’s sovereign team covering a range of European countries. He has been based in London, New York and more recently Paris. Daniel holds a Master in Management from ESCP Europe in Paris and speaks French, English and Spanish.
